Sachi’s 3rd Birthday Pool Party

4 Comments

Did you know that Sachi was born Chinese New Year of 2009? She wasn’t induced. She really chose to get out from my then really taunted belly, a week before my due date.

Little did we know that 3 years on that life changing day, she would celebrate her birthday Chinese style (kuno) πŸ™‚

Our theme this year is Kai-lan, the Chinese little girl in Nickelodeon. For those who don’t know her, she’s somehow the counterpart of the Spanish speaking Dora, but this time Chinese speaking. My little girl loves watching the show, and with the scarcity of party materials, this just means not a lot have this kind of party theme.

The frustrated “party planner” that I am and with the (feeling) crafty hands that I have, I searched for Kai-lan items, which really were very scarce. I only got party banner, hats, blow outs and 2 pcs of candies that were Kai-lan ready made. All others I had to improvise. Read: create some makeshift artwork haha!

Take a look at our simple pool party at Cobo Pavilion, lovingly prepared by yours truly (and daddy of course!)

Our food was all Filipino (daddy was in charge of this). I was in charge of no other than the dessert table.

Since it is Chinese inspired, I placed a pink “Chinese New Year Tree” adorned with good luck charms to be given away to guests. Turned out really nice πŸ™‚

The snacks and chocolates revolved around Pandas, round cookies, sushi inspired gummy candies, Kai-lan inspired cake pops and even hard boiled eggs! Haha yes kinareer pati the egg. I actually find it real cute because the end product looks like Kai-lan… oval shaped face and all. I got the template here

For the backdrop, I used paper lanterns, birthday banner bought from toy store and hand crafted name made of cartolina, art and crepe paper πŸ™‚
Happy happy birthday to our litlle girl!!! All the little things I made that took so much of my time is all worth it. Even this whole party-get together thing when we’re supposed to be saving is all worth it. Sulit na sulit syo ang pool! πŸ™‚

We love you, daughter! (She always wantes to be called “daughter”, not “baby” or “little girl”) May the Lord continue to bless you with good health, wisdom, active body and mind. May you always be free from harm. Thank you Lord for the 3 fun, healthy and active years of Sachi. Please bless her and the people around her all the time. Thank you for giving her to us πŸ™‚

It’s the wonderful time again of the year… nope its not the Chinese New Year, its my darling dearest angel’s birthday!

Why I love it? Because I get to have an excuse to be crafty and make kalat with the perfect excuse πŸ™‚

Cupcake stand — yes, this will be our makeshift cupcake stand. There is no styro available at National… this is the only round object in my room =))

While I’m being a receptionist, I am also the craft maker πŸ™‚ Β I wanted to make use of “spare” time so when I couldn’t find craft materials I had to find alternatives. This is the flower I will use for Kai-lan cut out… to complete the name banner. I used a bowl to make a perfect circle and a 10-peso coin to make a petal pattern.

A Wake Up Call

On the first day of 2012, we got a wake up call. Hubby suddenly felt dizzy and blood pressure went up. We rushed him to the ER to make sure everything is well. Thank God everything is. Thank you Lord for the wake up Β call. It couldn’t have come on a better time.

At SM Marikina and Medical City

An impromptu after-ER dinner

Picking up results of daddy’s tests with the kiddo

The day the hubs had his MRI
How ironic the first page of the newspaper. Headline: Shabu lab raided inside a posh village. Rhen just below it is an article about “Why you should go to the Philippines”

A scary machine!

Thank you Lord results were clear. Help us and guide us to take care of this condition so we may never need to do this again.

To my dear angel Sachi,

I’ve been saying this far more often than I thought I would, time flies so fast, you are such a big girl now. You are very talkative and happy. You are hyper and playful. You like playing pretend so much.

You love going to school. You are excited, but still shy around your friends and classmates

You are a happy little girl. You bring joy to the people around you

You are the sweetest.

You are very playful too. All you want to do is play play play

You love to ride the carousel

At times very pilya

You are very caring too

You are smart! Alphabet, numbers, names, letter recognition, few capital of countries and you’re starting to get curious too…

You love animals! From stuff toys to the real ones. Your favorite is this white bear and sawyer aka m(b)ingo the beagle stuff dog

And you are just plain cute

Did I say cccuuutteee?

We love you to bits, bachuch!!

P.S.
Our greatest challenge this year is your constipation… you are so constipated that it takes you a day or two to dump all that “bad poopoo”. Β You are afraid to push, nagpipigil,Β so it’s even more challenging for you, and for us.

Amendments

I am in the process of applying a passport for Sachi and renewing hub’s passport. Lo and behold, just when I thought all will be a breeze with the Β online appointment and delivery, I just realized that we have to amend 1) the birth certificate of the kiddo, and 2) amend hubby’s passport.

1) Amendment of the kid’s birth certificate

Legitimized children by subsequent marriage, should prepare the following ADDITIONAL requirements:

  • Marriage Certificate from the NSO in SECPA
  • Birth Certificate from NSO must be annotated

We have the Marriage Certificiate, but her Birth Certificate hasn’t been annotated just yet.

So how to annotate Birth Certificate? According to NSO FAQsΒ site:

  1. Legitimation of children by subsequent marriage of parents shall be recorded in the civil registry office of the place where the birth was recorded. The requirements for registration of legitimation of illegitimate children are:
    • Certificate of Marriage;
    • Certificate of Live Birth of the child;
    • Acknowledgement (not required for illegitimate children born on or after August 3, 1988);
    • Affidavit of legitimation executed by both parents shall contain the following facts:
      1. The name of the parents;
      2. That at the time when child was conceived, the aforesaid parents could have contracted marriage, and that they subsequently contracted marriage;
      3. The date and place when such marriage was solemnized;
      4. The name of the officer who officiated the marriage;
      5. The city or municipality where such marriage was recorded;
      6. The name of the child to be legitimated, and the other facts of birth;
      7. The date and place where the birth of the child was registered; and
      8. The manner by which the child was acknowledged by the parents which may be in the child’s record of birth, in a will, a statement before a court of record, or any authentic writing. (not required for illegitimate children born on or after August 3, 1998)

Bottomline: We have to go to the Civil Registry Office and fix this! From there, we’ll see the next step I guess.

Here’s a copy of the Affidavit of Legitimation that I plan to use.

2) Amendment of hub’s passport name, subsequently his visa — I researched and found out that one has to reapply for another visa all over again. Uh oh. So what if it lacks one letter, right? We’d probably do this upon renewal of his visa.

As for me, I’d have to change my passport name as well because of change in marital status. And same has hubby’s, will do this upon my passport’s expiration next year.

For Change of Name and Change in Marital Status you may check thisΒ link, very informative!
